We may be much smaller than your typical Corporate, but we think we punch well-above our weight when it comes to our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy.
Here’s an overview:
We run various fundraising events and awareness programmes locally to support, among others, a children’s football team, a foodbank, a Syrian refugee re-homing programme, and a charity caring for the elderly.
We’re committed to continuously developing our people, and encourage them to enrol and study for professional exams.
We’ve invested in improving the health and wellbeing of our team, by providing healthy snacks at work and access to local fitness classes and healthcare.
We promote waste recycling at every opportunity and we’re now an almost-paperless organisation.
Where appropriate, we encourage video conferencing calls instead of in-person meetings with clients and prospects. The less we travel, the smaller our carbon emissions. More on that below
Every responsible forward-thinking business knows it has an important role to play in preserving and protecting the environment. But “saying” and “doing” are two very different things. That’s why we’ve put our money where our mouth is and committed to achieving net-zero by 2030.
To show our commitment and to hold ourselves accountable, we signed up to the Science-Based Targets SME Initiative (SBTi) to:
reduce our scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 46% by 2030
measure and reduce our scope 3 GHG emissions
achieve net-zero carbon emissions before 2050.
As 2030 is still a relatively long way off, we wanted to make a positive impact straightaway by buying carbon credits. These offset our carbon emissions by financing clean-energy projects in emerging countries.
Each year, we publish our Net Zero Annual Report. It tracks our progress and details the steps we’re taking as a business, and as individuals, to achieve our 2030 net-zero ambition.
We were one of the first Independent brokers in the UK to sign up for SBTi, and we’re committed to doing all we can to support our customers and suppliers on their own net-zero journeys.
