The weather gods shined on the team again for this years volunteering day, this time at the amazing HorseWorld charity in Bristol, where the whole team got involved in cleaning and painting the Isolation Unit for the charity. HorseWorld rescue around 100 horses, ponies and donkeys a year and whenever an animal comes into the charity, it needs to be kept in isolation for a period of time, so that the staff and vet can asses what health issues the horse may have, and treat them. This is to reduce the risk of passing on any diseases to healthy animals within their care.
The stables and sheds down on isolation were looking a little tired, but many hands make light work and by the end of the day, the yard was looking spick and span, with a new lick of paint.
HorseWorld rescues neglected, mistreated and abandoned horses, ponies and donkeys, saving the lives of up to 100 animals every year, and this is the core part of their work. They also have a Discovery Programme, which supports children and young adults self-growth, confidence and concentration issues, using the ponies at the centre. Castlemead are really excited to have been able to spend the day with this amazing charity.
