Net Zero Commitment

Castlemead believe that businesses have an important role to play in preserving and protecting the environment, we have set our commitment to achieving net Zero by 2030 by signing up to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)

The Science Based Targets initiative is a coalition established in 2015 which aims to enable companies to set emission reduction targets in line with leading climate science. It is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute and WWF, and is ratified by Paris Agreement.

As part of this commitment, Castlemead will publish on an annual basis our score, and what steps as a business and individuals we are undertaking to achieve a 46% reduction of our carbon footprint by 2030, from a 2019 baseline.

This involves such things as upgrading IT equipment, decreasing waste and increasing recycling, keeping more detailed records of business mileage and flights, moving to electric/hybrid vehicles where appropriate and conducting meetings virtually where possible.

Speaking about Castlemead’s Net Zero Commitment, Niki Featherstone, Marketing Manager, said: “We are really proud to be one of the first independent brokers in the UK to have our targets validated by SBTi. Tackling climate change requires ambition action from SME’s. We’re proving our commitment to building a sustainable future by letting science dictate our course of action with Science Based Targets. We also believe that this is important step towards supporting our clients Net-Zero ambitions and commitments”
